\u201cThe new Z285.2-20 Occupational safety code for diving operations standard has some very important changes in its new edition. Significant changes in the edition include new provisions for SCUBA diving; clarification of minimum crew sizes based on risk assessment; expanded references to IMCA guidelines in the offshore; nitrox diving; and many other changes of importance\u201d, said Dave Geddes – current CADC president.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur CADC members are \u2013 as a condition of membership \u2013 required to conduct diving operations using the current Z275. 2 Diving Operations standard as a minimum safety level. The members can always exceed these standards in their operations but can never operate below them. In 2018, we provided our members with a guideline to self-audit their operations for compliance to this standard.\u00a0 We later released this into the public domain for non-member diving companies and regulators to use as a check list against the standard.\u201d, Geddes said.<\/p>\n
The industry is calling for a \u201cOne Country \/ One Dive Standard\u201d to be harmonized across the nation. Completion of the CADC document is expected to be Summer 2022 and to be distributed to current CADC members to aid in compliance.<\/p>\n
